Wednesday December 18th

Field Trip forms: If you haven't returned your field trip form please make sure to send it in tomorrow morning, Thank you.

Half Day tomorrow: students are dismissed at 11:45 tomorrow. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at conferences.

Today we worked on making a writing goal. First we thought about what we are doing well and what we can work on. Then the teacher gave us feedback about what we are doing and what we can keep working on. Finally we chose one area of writing to work on in the New Year.

Tuesday December 17th

We had some very special guest today. They where the Dr. Martha Cohen Jazz band and did a fantastic job playing some fun Jazzy tunes.

Today in math we continued to work in our I can books to show what we have learned so far this year.



In social studies we completed a venn diagram that compares the East Coast to either the Prairies or Arctic. Ask me about which region I chose and some of the similarities and differences.


In art we completed our lighthouse art!

Monday December 16th

Today report cards went home. We talked about how they are an opportunity for us to check in with our learning. Take sometime to talk about what your teacher wrote and the progress you have made this term and what you would like to work on in the New Year.

In writing, we used a picture prompt and wrote a story. We where checking in to see if we where applying everything we had learned this term.

In math we worked on some I can to show what we have learned so far in math.

We also had a lockdown and did an excellent job!

In the afternoon we had an assembly and participated in some caroling.

Thursday December 12

Today in math we practiced measure squiggly lines. We found it challenging to measure the 2 and 3rd set of lines with a paper clip or block. Ask me about a measuring tool that would work better.



In literacy we worked on inferencing. We used the picture below to make inferences. Ask me about the inferences I made.




We read chapter 7 in Halifax Explodes. While we where reading we drew what we saw and wrote a prediction, made an inference, identified an important part or asked a question.


During social studies today we learned about some of the animals on the East Coast and how people might use them. We even had a chance to practice drawing some of the animals. Ask me about something I learned.



We also had a very special assembly today. The grade 3 and 4 students shared some of the songs they have been working very hard on.

Tuesday December 10th

Today in Math we started a new problem that required reasoning and logic. Ask me about how I worked through the problem.


During our read aloud we learned about how the Imo and Mount Blanc crashed in the Halifax Harbor and caused an explosion. In our illustrators book we wrote about the most important part. Ask me about what I thought was the most important part.


Today in social studies we looked at the different features of water on the East Coast and what types of resources they provide for people.


Today in art we listened to the story 100 Snowmen the started a composition using chalk pastel. We talked about how to shade our snowmen so that the lighter side was the side the moon was shinning on.

Monday Dec 9

Today we worked on science. First we redesigned our boats based on everything we had learned from our science experiments. Then we build our boats. Finally we tested our boats and made revision. Ask me about what I learned and how my boat worked and why.

Friday December 6th
