Tuesday January 21

Today the Canadian Parks and Wildlife society came and presented on the environmental changes our earth is experiencing and the importance of water. We learned about how environmental changes impacted the Dire wolf and Grey Wolf. Ask me about which one is extinct and why.

In math we have been working on the following problem. Feel free to take sometime and try it at home.

Jim sees a total of 50 different art pieces hanging up in the classroom. There are four walls with pieces hanging on them. How many art pieces could be hanging on each wall??

How many different ways could the teacher display the art?

Remember to show your work!

In writing we have started working on writing our second 6 room piece of poetry. This time we are trying to use more interesting descriptive words and figurative language such as a simile and alliteration. We will be using the following rubric to mark our work.

In social studies we have started learning about what daily life might be like for a student in the Arctic, East Coast and Prairies both in the past and present. So far we have focused on the types of shelters each place may have to protect people from the climate. Ask me about the similarities and differences between the different types of shelter.
