Please send to school:

1) Textile Club: The Grade 2 Textile Club needs to be moved to THURSDAY, November 7^th this week. Students will still eat their lunch in the gathering area with their class at 11:45am and meet Ms. Kelly in Room 179 when the bell rings at 12:10pm.

2) Head phones: Next week we will start listening to books through RAZ kids on the computers. Please send a pair of head phone that your child can keep at school and use to listen to books by Tuesday November 5th.

3) Building materials: Students will be needed several materials for a build project. If you have any of the following items. Please send them by Tuesday November 5th in a bag so that they can be easily stored in the classroom.

cereal box cardboard (please flatten the boxes)

Today in literacy we read The Secret Shortcut and learned how to use the Story Braidy Icons to retell books we have read. Please feel free to use this strategy when reading books with your child. See the documents below for more information.

In writing, we received feedback from our teachers and worked to apply the feedback to our 2nd drafts. We did an excellent job and really liked the chance to improve our writing. Ask me about what I worked on in my writing today.

In word work we focused on making words that used the bossy r rule for ir like in the word sir. Some of our words also used super e like in the word kite. The other ending our words had was ike like in stick. You can practice helping me find these endings in books I read or thinking about other words that might rhyme with sir, kite and stick.

In social, we travelled to the Arctic today and will begin learning about the land in the Arctic. We started a new book for our read aloud. Ask me about where the characters went to this time and if this book connects to the last book we read about the prairies.
