Monday November 25

Math:
In math we focused on how to predict the next element in our pattern we chose to predict either the 12, 18, or 24th element. Then we had to explain our prediction and prove our answer. Below is the criteria for the math problem we are working on. Try having me practice predicting the element in a pattern.

Word Work:
In word work we learned about how the ed sound makes three different sounds. Ask me about the three sounds that ed makes and practice finding words that end in ed in books.

Writing:
Today and on Thursday you received a very special postcard from your child about their experience on the prairies. These were letters that we wrote as a draft and then went through a number of feedback looks. This is now their final good copy. Our focus was on descriptive writing. Here is the criteria that we focused on.

To have all of these things would mean that your child is on track (3) with their writing. We went through a number of feedback looks with our peers and teacher to ensure we had met the expectations for this writing task. Take time to read and enjoy their postcard and then with your child, see if they have all the criteria for this writing task. What do they feel they have done a good job on? What improvements did they make in their writing from their first draft?

Social Studies:
In social studies we started our "Diary of a Mountie" books. Tomorrow we will be working with the kit from Fort Calgary to learn all about the NWMP.
