Tuesday October 15th

Tomorrow is picture day!
Physical Education will be outside tomorrow due to picture day so please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for the weather.

Today in Literacy we listened to the book A Turkey for Thanksgiving. While listening we thought about different words that could be used for "said" then continued to think about this during read to self. In writing we shared what we did over the long weekend for Thanksgiving or with our families. We began to think about the 5 senses and how we could use senses words to make our writing more interesting. Ask me about the surprise ending in the story.

During math we practiced using the number line to solve 2 digit addition sentences. Take some time to practice this with me. Here are a few examples . . .

After lunch we started a read aloud called Pioneer Kids and used the front cover to think about what we know and read the summary. This helped us discover that the story will take place in the past around 1910. Ask me about some of the characters in the story.

In social we began thinking about words that describe the three different regions. Ask me about some of the words we brainstormed to describe the Prairies, East Coast and Arctic.

In health we thought about ways we can keep our school clean and help Mrs. Spence with some of the problems she shared in her email with us. Ask me about one of the ways I am going to try to help keep the school clean.

In art we learned how to hold a paint brush and practiced painting light and dark colours.
